atlas - summer[left] lyrics
[ verse ]
summer came and went too fast for me to capture it
the whispers in the air turn to fidgeting and asking
if the questions that were riddled with disaster
were whistling in tune with the frequency that sat in the passenger
so the only thing i’m good at is love songs
being loved by somebody who learned to love wrong
and above all i’m a soft spoken poet
pirate of the sound waves
laughing but i’m not joking
crashing and burning i’m often lacking in most places
aside from the crackling open fires and home fragrance
slayed in my own scrimmage
i’m made of my own image
i live on the waves i’ve heard them say that my home’s venice
locked in a cage transforming into a lone menace
pen stroke is deadly i’m handing out a capone finish
i’ve lived for the broken nights, poltergeist, ghost sinners
sit inside all summer outside most winters
poetry, is when your mind’s in full effect
just an easy way to try to make simplicity complex
and what is poetry
is when the summer disconnects
other than an easy way to mow the words you resurrect
[ outro ]
i watched my summer fade to black and second guess
i watched my summer fade to black and second guess
