i listened to green day for the first time in three years yesterday
its probably not the best thing ever to be listening to songs about being lonely right and “going to a whore” before a job interview, but i did
im listening to them again right now
that was a lie im about to push play now but theres nothing playing as i type this sitting cross-legged at the edge of a too-tall coffee table
ive never actually drank coffee at a coffee table i don’t know if that’s because i don’t drink that much coffee or just because i drink it at the kitchen table. i can’t actually imagine sitting a
okay im actually listening to green day now
the last thing that was played on my ipod was “bluebird” by beach house
theres no connection between the two besides the fact that there are are color -ssociations. is there a band that more exemplifies the color blue than beach house? i bet their recording studio is covered in long 70s shaggy blue carpet. that would make more sense if i hadn’t read that their practice space is a warehouse. they seem like cool people to hang out with. my film prof claimed he huffed paint with billie joe back in the early 90s before the blew up in mankato, mn. i buy it cuz his wife is from minneapolis but it seemed like a weird thing to shoehorn into a lecture about stan brakhage. im not sure how many songs have been inspired by him but stereolab’s homage on *dots and loops* has to be the best one
is there anyone in the world that can listen to “welcome to paradise” without strumming along? and not just a normal air guitar strum but a full on bille joe exaggerated wide stance hand saw on a a horizontal log in the middle of the wilderness motion
i saw a thread about dookie the other day and i honestly feel bad for anyone that takes themselves so seriously that they can’t enjoy it. the punk purists that disavow the fun side of the genre are a bit insufferable. anyone that completely writes off a genre is a bit insufferable aren’t they, especially when the genre was created well into their lifetime. even keith richards got old and cranky – is there hope for any of us?
