bisher & dan - an open letter lyrics

[verse 1: bisher & dan]
dear matt
i want to tell you how much i’ve been helped by rap
depressing thoughts and ideas, hip-hop had my back
music from biggie to 2pac kept my health intact
but lyrics from others made me react
i’m not writing you because i’m looking for a target to attack
but i’m here to tell you that our art form has a problem and that is a fact
our generation is statistically the most supportive
for issues like g-y marriage, it was reported
they said the millennials grew to be the most cooperative and informative
but our actions still do not make me -ssertive
h-m-phobic lyrics still go dismissed
as eminem’s music is still ruling all over your spotify’s playlist
all i hear is f-ggot that, f-ggot this
did rap program a tragic diss ?
he redefines the slur
but it still exists
while policing others that make him “sick”
how can he sell a 100 million ?
by perpetuating hate against g-ys, and get us to call it brilliance ?
are we hypocrites ? or just uncivilized civilians ?
i understand we hold different opinions
but it’s time for us to address all millennials
to stand up for what you believe in
and confront our thoughts that are deceiving
deep inside, your feelings of worth
are reversed for others with feelings from birth
so next time you try and cement your masculinity
find a better way to do it without attacking someone else’s femininity
i’m not here trying to accuse you of h-m-phobia
but i have support to tell you that your favorite rappers music is full of genderphobia
it’s time for you to come out and set an example
for those that stand in the margin, and tell them that millennials have a situation to handle
and to look at masculinity from a different angle
where maybe we can see a positive change happen
i believe we will stand up for our beliefs
we’re immune, out of reach
and they’re alone, stuck with their disease
there is no guarantees
and i know that many will disagree
but let go of your fear
and next time someone calls you out for sounding queer
tell him to tie a rope around his p-n-s, and jump from a chandelier
