c4leb400 - interview on viral upcoming artist “ lyrics
what was your inspiration to start making music or get involved in music ?
+ my inspiration to get into the industry came from watching all the og youtube vloggers back in the day that made me want to pick up a camera, from there i combined that love for creating visual stuff with my love for music. which led me to do directing music videos and doing creative direction work with artists
when did you start working around music how old are you and where are you based ?
+ i started in the industry about 3 years ago, mainly doing small stuff for homies like shooting shows, bts studio videos and a couple of music videos. about a year ago i started properly directing music videos and haven’t stopped since then. currently i am based out of perth wester australia but my hometown is a small country town called karratha, but hopefully soon i’ll be out in the us
what are 3 tips you have for upcoming artist that wanna get into music ?
+ find your niche, not everyone needs to make music to be apart of the scene. there are so many creative and non+creative roles throughout the industry that need to be filled, obviously i’d love to be able to make music but i know my lane and where i am needed. find your lane it might be more different than you think
what is it about you that is different from other artists ?
+ i think what help set me apart is my creativity and storytelling, all my videos have themes and a cohesive direction. whether it’s set design, costuming, location or angles it all plays a piece to the cohesiveness of the end product
what are your goals with being an artist ?
+ i want to be able to giveback to everyone who gave me the time and effort, as well as provide inspiration to anyone who wants to create
where do you see yourself 5 years from now ?
+ in the discussion with the best music video directors in the world and nothing less
how did you come up with your name ?
+ my name is caleb so i swapped out the ‘a’ with a ‘4’ just cause i thought it’d be cool, then the ‘400’ at the end of my name is a creative collective i am apart of called 400inc
what’s your message to the youth ?
+ just do you and be grateful for the people around, if you are thankful for everything and give nothing but good energy you will be rewarded
what are some challenges you’ve faced as an artist and how did you overcome them
+ leaving home real young to chase this career was a pretty tough move on me, missing out on being with family and friends i had known my whole life for big life moments as well as missing out on time with loved ones. i know now it was a huge step needed for me as an individual and an artist, hopefully i am about to do it again for even more growth
what style would you consider your most worked on music to be ?
+ at the moment i a have mainly been working on underground rap just because i love the sound of it, working on something you genuinely would listen to make its to much easier to be creative
to upcoming artists that are afraid to take a loss what’s 5 pieces of advice you’d like to give them
1. without risks you’ll have nothing
2. truly love it and it will love you
3. be grateful and appreciative of everyone
4. be obsessive
5. be original and true to yourself and the people around you
