[chorus]:
i really think that we could last forever
you’re my favorite and i think that we should stay together
they don’t know us and they don’t know our story
so we can let ‘em talk write their own allegory

[verse 1]:
first grade: moving vans
new neighbors: dinner plans
across the fence he saw her waving her hands
he went back to making mud in the yard
she came over, sat down, and asked if moving was hard
second grade: it was rare to ever see them apart
bеst friends ever sincе they first met at the start
they grew together and had all the inside jokes
like they made their own language every time that they spoke
6th grade: taking all these new classes
after school they would hangout and make fun of the masses
they grew closer when her dad was diagnosed
and they sent him off together on a trip to the coast
9th grade: they were ready for the best years of their lives
but they quickly realized that those dreams had been lies
everyday seemed to be just like the last
but at least they had each other so they made it a blast

[chorus]:
i really think that we could last forever
you’re my favorite and i think that we should stay together
they don’t know us and they don’t know our story
so we can let ‘em talk write their own allegory
[verse 2]:
meanwhile everybody else could always see
that this pair should be together like a breeze and the sea
their friends would tell them they’d be perfect as a team
but they always played it off and said it wasn’t their dream
so they kept the status quo even though they felt the pressure
never giving in even when their friends were the stressors
senior year was getting closer to the end
and those college applications had to be turned+in
they realized that they favored different schools
but they knew they’d see it through cause they had all the tools
the constant pressure finally put them in a spot
so he asked her to the prom and they gave it a shot
3 weeks later and they’d quickly fizzled out
to the point that when they’d see each other they could only shout
graduated and they went their separate ways
and they blocked each other’s numbers can’t go back to first grade

[chorus 2]:
i really thought that we would last forever
but things change and i know we shouldn’t be together
they don’t know us but they do know our story
so we can let ‘em talk and they’ll take all the glory
