food of the gods lyrics
he lost his way in the woodlands
just trying to get home
beneath an umbrella of tall ancient ash trees
that stand gargantuan
their twisted, nicked, arms reaching out ominously toward him

something is stalking him
he’d sensed it, previously, in the heathlands
with every fiber of his being
he is convinced it is the instinctual blueprints handed down from his tribal, welsh ancestors that alert him to this abysmal fear
it is primitive, hungry, and dark
some unspeakable, unexplainable, unnamable evil

he moves rapidly onward as a heavy rain falls
but is forced to slow to a crawl, reaching the muddy grime of the marshland
he trudges into the circles of elder monoliths and stones
of which his ancestors had spilt blood upon
twas a king per every year of harvest that was not plentiful
the kings bridegroom of fertility left alive to wed the next in line

continuing into elder territory
through the muck and the mire
he enters a labyrinth of stones
that, for thousands of years, had yet been seen with human eyes
sensing aeons of death and doom there
he looses his footing and falls to his hands and knees
aghast
crawling
gazing up defeated
running his hands upon a dark, gargantuan obsidian grey stone
what he sees horrifies him
it is the ancient hieroglyph of a primitive man running, terrified in the dark
the playful face and figure of a god with h+rns, surrounded by malicious fairies of the land, treading behind him
the insular celtic encryption beneath the stone reads
“food of the gods, we are all just food of the gods”
it is now, his site goes black
