jakespoetry - the orchard lyrics

Loading...

[verse 1]
the autumn breeze in my hair
lifts me off my feet, back into my mind
how can i make them care?
when the stars are not aligned
a lot can happen in the time span of a year
running to the end of an everlasting sphere
trees bloom and die within the time

[chorus]
and at the orchard, my roots grow rapidly
splits down the spine, what a tragedy
my foundation starts to crumble apart
apples no longer grow on my trees
made me grow too fast, my soil caught a disease
now no one sees anything, but dark green

[verse 2]
my branches were st+rdy, put together and strong
i thought flourishing was lifelong
until my leaves were set to fire
they turn shades of orange and yellow
wind blows through, earsplitting echoes
sometimes, leaves just fall when they’re still green

[chorus]
and at the orchard, my roots grow rapidly
splits down the spine, what a tragedy
my foundation starts to crumble apart
apples no longer grow on my trees
made me grow too fast, my soil caught a disease
now no one sees anything, but dark green
[bridge]
it’s a shame, you touch my roots with your poison
i suffer drought, when the others get moistened
so why am i the tree that you poisoned?
october gives greenery a reason
they only care when you’re healthy and in season
my orchard’s chosen for the crime of sudden treason
only picked with thriving fruit, red galore
and all my apples are rotten to the core

[chorus]
and at the orchard, my roots grow rapidly
splits down the spine, what a tragedy
my foundation starts to crumble apart
apples no longer grow on my trees
made me grow too fast, my soil caught a disease
now no one sees anything, but dark green

[outro]
the winter solstice arrives in the blink of an eye
the roots die from a starved suicide
