[verse 1]

i’m from where the streetlights fl!cker at night
and every shadow feel alive when you’re walking by
you’d pray to jesus for protection
but sometimes it feels like he ain’t replying

county line split the map in two
one side lawless, the other side too
difference is one side hide from the jail
’cause some folks leave and never make it through

i’m from a place where rumors becomе facts
and facts become stories aftеr enough time pass
everybody know somebody
who got swallowed by addiction or a prison track

the air feel heavy when the sun go down
like the whole town holding secrets underground
you learn real quick not to trust every sound
’cause paranoia got a voice where i’m from

i grew up watching candles replace names
every year somebody else getting framed
some disappear into pills
some disappear into shame
small+town math
everybody somehow related
everybody got opinions
everybody know who hated

you hear the same stories told a hundred different ways
till n0body know the truth and everybody know the pain
one kid made it out
one kid caught a case

one still sitting at the same d+mn bar
talking ’bout his glory days

that’s where i’m from
not the postcards
not the welcome signs
the part they don’t put online

the part that made me who i am
for better or worse

the part i still hear talking
every time the streetlights fl!cker first

[hook]
where i’m from
everybody knows somebody
that didn’t make it out

where i’m from
everybody got a story
they don’t talk about

where i’m from
you learn real quick
what fear feels like

where i’m from
the streetlights fl!cker
like they’re trying to warn you now

[verse 2]

the only thing about cash that’s changed this year
is my mindset finally caught up to my fear
i spent too long hiding pieces of myself
trying to be somebody everybody could hear

truth is i couldn’t face the facts
half the sh+t holding me back was attached to my past
i kept wearing masks till i got exhausted
trying to outrun things built to last
maybe that’s what happens when you’re estranged from blood
maybe all the red finally cleared from the flood
now i see everything different
and honestly, i’m hungry because of it

i’ve been crashing out before it had a name
before social media turned it into a phrase
back when it was just me
trying not to lose my mind every day

how the f+ck am i supposed to call this normal?
every time i think i’m over it
another memory show up at my doorstep
like it forgot it wasn’t welcome

and that’s the insane part

not what happened

the fact that i’m still here
trying to make sense of it

i’ve watched addiction eat families whole
watched prison turn years into ghosts
seen mothers crying in parking lots
and good people lose hope

seen fathers disappear overnight
seen kids learn survival before they learned life
seen pain get passed down generations
like a family heirloom disguised as advice

i don’t glorify the darkness
i just document the view
the overdoses, broken homes
and people barely making it through

maybe that’s why i write this sh+t
before the details fade away
everybody got a story
and most don’t get told anyway

so if these songs sound heavy
it’s because they carry weight
every verse another photograph
of people trying to escape

i won’t become the things i’ve seen
but i won’t pretend they weren’t there

i’m not the story

i’m just the one who wrote it down

[hook]

where i’m from
everybody knows somebody
that didn’t make it out

where i’m from
everybody got a story
they don’t talk about

where i’m from
you learn real quick
what fear feels like

where i’m from
the streetlights fl!cker
like they’re trying to warn you now
