[rider, spoken]
tamion?
i looked ahead like you wanted. still no sign of the militia

[tamion, spoken]
hmmm

[rider, spoken]
so, how’s your stew?

[tamion, spoken]
hrmm
it could use some herbs

[narrator]
nearby on a road, there’s gobe and augustin
they’ve burgled a merchant and tied him to a tree
augustin’s counting his gold and looking over his wares
and gobe is smelling his feet

[merchant, spoken]
i’ll push you down a well for this!

[augustin st. patrick]
don’t be so overdramatic
just consider this taxes for a ceremony
[gobe]
i’m gonna cut off his left foot!

[augustin st. patrick]
that’s fine, just remember
check his mouth for gold t++th

[gobe, spoken]
i think braxton smells someone

[augustin st. patrick]
oh, lucky day! a new taxpayer for me!

[narrator]
a musclebound figure steps out of the shadows and says

[ugly judge]
ugly

++
[narrator, spoken in beat]
the ugly judge punches the boar in the head, breaking tusk and sending it to sleep
gobe tries to slash at the judge but it kicks him down forested hill, rolling steep
it gets distracted by screams of the merchant who’s struggling, strapped to the tree
as it puts it’s hand round his head augustin quickly runs after gobe, in retreat
the judge pulls the merchant’s head off of his shoulders and tosses it far in the woods
it sees the boar’s chest is still rising and falling like only a living thing’s would
it mutters out “ugly” and walks to the hog and raises a fist to finish the job
but before it can bring the mighty blow down, it hears an all too familiar sound
the crack of an orc leather whip
it wraps ‘round it’s ankles and makes the judge slip

[narrator, sung]
tamion stands on the back of a horse, rider is galloping maximum force
he loops his whip ‘round the saddle two times
they ride past the judge it starts dragging behind

[tamion, spoken]
rider, take us to that boulder ahead
as soon as we pass it, turn hard to the left

[narrator]
they ride to the boulder and turn ‘round it fast
the judge’s head hits it with echoing crack

[tamion, spoken]
perfect! now straight for that cliff
when we’re close to the edge, grab both reigns and twist

[narrator]
they ride up to it and turn on a dime
then whip from the saddle, tamion unwinds
the ugly judge slides as it cradles its head
and momentum sends monster right over the edge
it falls, bashing trees and hits ground with a thud
looking up tamion’s airborne and blocking the sun
tamion does a somersault
landing with both feet on his jaw
draws his hammer from his hip
and brings it down on the judge’s ribs

it tries to swat orc off it’s head
but tamion hammers it’s ribs again
the judge then opens it’s mouth wide
and tamion’s feet both slip inside it
it pushes itself from the ground
and now tamion’s dangling down from it’s mouth
it wraps it’s hands around tamion’s chest
and it squeezes ’til tamion’s all out of breath

++ (breathing)

tamion’s vision blurs and shifts
as everything goes black
his mind begins to drift
far into his past
he’s a little boy staring at a pyre
his family in a pile in the fire

[young tamion, spoken]
i will become more powerful than any monster
i promise (promise promise promise…)

++
[narrator]
tamion’s eyes shoot open
he throws hammer into judge’s brow
it steps back in pain
and tamion tumbles, gasping to the ground
he rolls quickly to his hammer
grabs the handle and he stands
leaps to swing it at the monster
but it blocks it with its hand
tamion bounces from the impact
sliding on dirt as he lands
ugly judge looks at the jewel in its palm
and sees some cracks

[ugly judge, screaming]
ugly

++
[narrator, spoken in beat]
the ugly judge marches to tamion
grabbing a boulder the size of a man as it walks
tamion takes several swings at the monster
but it uses boulder to block and to block
it breaks the rest of the rock on his head
then it grabs hold of his wrist
other hand squeezes and crushes his hammer
the first hand is yanking and twists

[narrator, sung]
tamion’s arm falls on the ground
in so much pain that he can’t make a sound
tamion turns and he stumbles towards flowing rapids
in hope they could be his escape
ugly judge throws his own arm to the back of his knees
and tamion falls on his face
he feels the foot of the judge press down on his back
as it pushes down he hears multiple cracks
he grabs golden collar right off of his belt
and then ‘round judge’s ankle he closes and clasps it
it lifts it’s foot and he rolls forward gaspin’
ugly judge lunges and it tries to grab him
tamion digs deep and gives it all
all of his energy into a dodge
ugly judge grips and it rips out his ponytail
tamion screams but in rapids he falls

++
[augustin st patrick, spoken]
gobe! gobe!
[narrator, sung & augustin st. patrick, spoken]
augustin st patrick finds gobe at the bottom of the hill
he’s not sure if he’s dead (gobe)
he rushes to his side and finds that he’s alive
and sighs and cradles his head (sighs)

[augustin st. patrick]
oh, my little gobey
it hurts to see your pain
for too long have you had to be brave+

[gobe, spoken]
i’m okay!

[augustin st. patrick, spoken]
you idiot! don’t scare me like that
now get up, we need to go back and make sure our gold is okay

[gobe, spoken]
and braxton too!

[augustin st. patrick, spoken]
sure. yes. whatever

[gobe, spoken]
that was a real pretty song you was singin’ to me

[augustin st. patrick sighs]
