leigh-anne - don't say love (commentary) lyrics
the main goal for me was to incorporate these genres that i’ve loved growing up or just like i listen to now. garage was one of those genres that you went out and that’s what you heard, you know, like it reminds me of being young in the clubs and just having fun with my friends. so when it actually went through, i mean, i worked on it and tweaked it to make it a little bit more personal to me. and the more i listened to it the more it kind of made me feel a certain situation in my life where i didn’t feel very loved. i think it was the perfect opener, the perfect introduction to kind of getting this message across, that feeling of being undervalued and not really seen, like, i wanted to get that out, so once it’s out there, it’s done, like, i’ve moved on. so that’s why i think “don’t say love” felt like the perfect, like, hah, like, i’m here, this is my intro, this is how i felt, but it doesn’t defining me and i’m moving on.
