[interlude]
the last 25 years has been an expose on the limits of liberalism even in the global liberal hegemonic empire. we begin to see the fissures created by the contradictions of a system who bases freedom and democracy solely within the limits of political rights

but things don’t have to be this way at all. there have been so many combinations of societies and to think we have so much technology and wealth, how can we not make a better presеnt with a little creativity, we arе surrounded by choices that we all should be making. choices and decisions that affect us all that shouldn’t be left to some invisible hand of some fake free market and instead in the hands of the people who do all of the work

these are the consequences of living under the dictatorship of the bourgeoisie. where children get shot in underfunded schools everyday and the overpaid police loaf around, and then one ceo of a healthcare company gets k!lled and the police are shaking bushes and opening up hotlines. from the land speculators to the slave owners to the capitalist oligarchs of today. which is why we advocate for economic freedom, because without it, economic power accumulates the same way political power does, through violence, coercion, and on the backs of the everyday working people

what i find the hardest to believe though is that there was a point after ww2 where there was that reflection on the status quo. why did albert einstein write the paper titled “why socialism?” as late as 1949!?! here is a quote from it that bears witness from one of the smartest humans we have ever known

“the real purpose of socialism is precisely to overcome and advance beyond the predatory phase of human development”
― albert einstein

what would make such a smart man question capitalism? we all know our government has lied to us millions of times about so many things, large and small, is it incomprehensible they could have lied to you about capitalism?

my brain detaches and i imagine a world where we use technology to reduce the work we all need to do. where robots and ai taking jobs is a benefit to society and not an existential threat

where we spend our finite capacity on making sure people have the basics. creating a floor for everyone. real freedom is the ability to pursue your interests without worrying about starving or basic health. where you can create, build, and be a part of a community and make it better. one where you are attached to the results of what you create and the benefits aren’t given to some rich man thousands of miles away

where we train more healthcare workers, teachers, ems, doctors, childcare workers, than we need and pay them well. pay them like we actually value them instead of allowing wall street to extract all of their value. where we don’t need finance and speculation, where we value things of more importance. where schools are overfunded instead of our military and police

where you and your loved ones don’t have to work every second of the day, don’t have to rush around just to perform the needed social reproduction day after day. where we get to enjoy our children and our parents and grandparents. where we can set down our work and not be on call 24 hours a day and 7 days a week just to make sure the profit wheel doesn’t stop grinding for a millisecond

why is less work a bad thing? why is the economy based on some stock market or gdp? why does everything around us promote the same worthless garbage? why should we care about growth? why can’t we do anything to stop this incessant suffering when there is so much money and wealth?

why is freedom only freedom to consume or freedom to own things. freedom for the rich and powerful to rape anything from anyone who has less. why is freedom not freedom to live, freedom to pursue your own ideas, freedom for the bottom half of society instead of just the top 5%. why when working people rising up they are dangerous terrorists but the rich oppressing us are just sl!ck investors and generous philanthropists?
why do we only hear prices are increased by workers’ wages instead of records set in executive compensation, stock buybacks, and profits

i reach to karl marx about the ruling class and the ruling ideas
“the ideas of the ruling class are in every epoch the ruling ideas, i.e. the class which is the ruling material force of society, is at the same time its ruling intellectual force. the class which has the means of material production at its disposal, has control at the same time over the means of mental production, so that thereby, generally speaking, the ideas of those who lack the means of mental production are subject to it. the ruling ideas are nothing more than the ideal expression of the dominant material relationships, the dominant material relationships grasped as ideas.”

when other countries have homelessness, violence, drug addiction, unaffordability, inflation, etc it is suddenly the fault of the system or the country. but here in the heart of global capitalism it somehow is never discussed or critiqued or allowed to be. silly, it’s those individuals’ problems not capitalism for some reason. if some family was toiling under communism, you are d+mn right we would be +n+lyzing the systemic conditions they are in

what makes our economic system so special?

the answer is nothing. america is just like every metropole in history and as the super profits dry up and the elite overproduction continues to crumble our empire from within. how is the facade still holding up? our propaganda is just better than anything in history. what more could the masters ask for? not much. can we do better? absolutely!!

as i disconnect from reality and try to find what the point of all of this we call life. is it to live to work, to toil to make as much profit as possible. or is it to work to live? to gain a level of security with those people that matter to you and to enjoy the time you have with them. i would rather tell my children to explore what makes them happy and end up on the street together with them then have them feel the emptiness, the vapid isolation, or pointlessness of dedicating every day of your life to slaving for some capitalist profit

is this the final configuration of humanity? where did we go so wrong? what made us think that this consumerist short term profit driven world is the ideal end state? is there anything next? or is capitalist dystopia the only option after capitalist realism?

what do you think? take your time. for now i want to read from a prominent philosopher in my life to enjoy what is left of now

“we get to feel sand between our toes, snow adrift in silence against a blue+black sky, see our children laugh riotously for the first time at a joke we’ve heard a thousand times, hear a piece of music that makes our chest quiver and our throats close, see how sunlight grows a tree a hundred feet tall and understand the science behind it, see a curve of human flesh that makes our stomach suddenly tighten, see the impossible gleam of adoration in our dogs’ eyes, catch a hurting loved one in a hug that keeps them on their feet in their darkest moment, share a simple joke with a brother that would take a volume of writing to explain to a stranger, sit in awe at how impossibly good the first bite of pizza tastes, and so on and so on.”

there is much to fight for. let’s ride out together. love, peace, and all workers unite
