parker meir - canine poetry lyrics
we walked outside to take a breather
pavement still wet from the rain
your face looked like it was glowing
i wish my face did the same
you traced our names in the wet concrete
on the corner of park and scott
we’d be immortalized there forever
oh to part, well we hoped not
and the silence would be unbearable
you starved me, so i wеnt hungry
you’ll grab your favorite notebook off the shеlf
and read me your canine poetry
you’re chewin on a cherry pit
you’re messin with my hair
oh i can’t hear what you’re saying
when you’re all the way up there
you started to say something
you stopped about two words in
i said “well, what if we get caught?”
you said “that’s the fun of it.”
and the silence would be unbearable
you starved me so i went hungry
you’ll grab your favorite notebook off the shelf
and ill hope to god you’ll read me
your canine
poetry
