paul & the microcosm - microcosm/macrocosm lyrics

Loading...

the waves hit the shore of my microcosm
the island seems much lonelier to me
seaweed is tangling up my arms and legs
and there’s plastic as far as i can see

the blue whale carcass to my right
gives me shelter from the storm
as i start to detach more and more
from the place in which i was born

your planet is a vast sea
of hungry, hungry fishes
that take your food for granted
only grant their own selfish wishes

they pay to k!ll themselves
and get accepted from their own
and after dеcades of destruction
they still havеn’t grown

microcosm
macrocosm

i was born alone on a country road
a traveling hobo’s soul
then thrown into the masses
with no hold and no control
obscured by secondhand smoke
i walk along the ice
that forms a crust around my feet
as the water starts to rise

i see the silhouette
of a lonely fishing boat
a swarm of sardines under it
that keep the boat afloat

your carelessness amazes me
i never understood
how one like you can just ignore
the danger that’s afoot

as my microcosm orbits ’round the beaches of my mind
desperately searching for someone of my own kind
the sun starts to set
and as the full moon starts to rise
the iridescence of the ocean
creates a temporary disguise
to hide garbage and the carcass
and untangle me at once
and makes my vagabond persona
feel at home for once
