qj of vaudeville - coyote (act ii) lyrics
[coyote]
[hook]
c-o-y-o-t-e
c-o-y-o-t-e, yo
c-o-y-o-t-e, uh
c-o-y-o-t-e
[verse]
do you believe in ghosts?
you take another shot, feel it sliding down your throat
once again, do you believe in ghosts?
i forgot you can’t hear me, after all you’re just a host
an eyegl-ss into new lands
you inform me better than your local news can
and all i have to do is see it through your eyes
through your flaws and your lies
your mistakes and your lose ends
the truth bends after the first few drinks, it’s barely seven o’clock
you’re getting turnt up, whether you are ready or not
cruising around the city like you don’t have any direction
it’s unlikely any deity would hear your confession
you stopped asking those questions a long -ss time ago
and when they show up again, you know that it’s time to go
i’m not here to judge you, i’d probably do the same
cause i embody human nature, it’s chaos in my name, i’m
[hook]
c-o-y-o-t-e
c-o-y-o-t-e, yo
c-o-y-o-t-e, uh
e-t-o-y-o-c
[verse]
do you believe in god?
you’re taking shots now like you’re looking for an applause
once again, do you believe in gods?
plural this time, like the ones with all the flaws
well i’m closer to that than a ghost, more like a spirit
i never was human, though i had a human appearance
know your world well, but i’ve been sleep with no interference
so i’m making you the morning paper
my form is like vapor before i make my return, spiritual hibernation
normal for my kind, but no more time to be wasting
now i’m coming back home
i chose you as an avatar i could latch on
to test the waters and see just how much of the world has changed in my absence
all i’ve seen so far is wet t-shirts and absinthe
friendzones, racism, i’ve been there i’ve done that
i’ve seen the world end twice, tell me where the fun’s at
[outro]
haha, yeah, tell me where the fun’s at
yo, tell me where the fun’s at
c-o-y-o-t-e
[interlude: captain kirk]
act 2
the ent-ty in question watching the young man isn’t one many of you would readily know. a quick trip to your local library or a search through wikipedia could give you the information you need. the ent-ty here is known as coyote, a trickster, a culture hero – a mythical god of native american mythology. an ageless and powerful being, benevolent in nature, but in truth, more human than any of us. he’s a representation of the chaos of mankind manifested. coyote spends a lot of time with humans and around humans, even taking on a human form, but during certain periods of time, he is forced to leave earth and he goes into spiritual hibernation until its time for him to return again. well, now it seems that hour has come, but rather than making a full return, his next course of action is always to make sure he actually wants to come back. in doing so, he travels to earth in a spiritual form and observes an individual who interests him – in this case, the young man we’ve been following – and sees the world through their eyes. in this process, he is informed of how things have changed since he’s been gone. however, from what he’s seen so far, not much has. humans are still as vain and stupid as they’ve always been. and that’s how coyote likes it. as the night rolls on, coyote watches the young man continue to have his fun and revel in the glamore of the city life, but as he keeps a close watch, he sits back, antic-p-ting and waiting for something interesting to happen…and he knows that’s bound to come to p-ss very soon
