ritchie francis - there's a time lyrics

Loading...

there’s a time in your life
when you surely must believe in me
as i believe in you
there’s a time in your life
when you put your hopes on someone else
as they put their hopes on you
and you try just as hard as you can
not to let them down
like so many people do

morning comes in the window
dancing on silver sunbeams
falls on embroidered pillows
who couldn’t love you now?
who couldn’t love you now?

there’s a time in your life
when you surely must trust in me
as i must trust in you
there is no other way
there is nothing that we can do
these are the dues we’ve got to pay
for we live in a time
when a young girl can be shot right down
when she’s walking in the street
it is plain, you can see
there is something drastically wrong
the danger sign is red and clear
i love to see you dressing
your hair so long and golden
just like a perfumed garden
who wouldn’t love you too?
who wouldn’t love you too?

in the early morning as the sun was rising
and the birds were singing in another day
there i found myself alone inside the tower
writing poetry and singing songs of praise
on the wall, there hung a portrait of my father
dated late september 1963
underneath was written “does this really matter?”
so i found some chalk and wrote “it does to me”, yeah

this is the moon, high in the sky
like a diamond that time has made its own
this is the sea, kissing the shore
making more than a sound, it’s a symphony
this is the sun, warming our skins
and burning our sins until all must die
this is the wind that carries the song
that will always belong in my heart and my mind, oh
these are the stars, to touch, we have longed to
in truth, we’ve belonged since the start of time, oh yeah
