rottcris - aegrescit medendo lyrics

verse 1:
self-medicated away
the day’s frustrations
there’d be h-ll to pay
for this guinea pig patient
so clever he never ate
the cheese in the center
of the maze he just lazily
laid asleep ‘till a better
experiment began
than the usual rat race
where stuffin’ his fat face
is all he’d get when he ran
he preferred to dispense
an escape from his pen
by sippin’ from a bottle
full of bliss till he waddled
off into the sunset
some got projected
into their cages
seemed like it’d been ages
since his rage at
his captors had been seen
he was bred in captivity
but still he dreamt
of the freedom to starve
to death under a star filled sky
rather than be picked apart
under artificial lights
just to further someone else’s
agenda when they
presented the data gained
from his existence
as a laboratory
animal. he had it all
pictured in his head
that soon he’d be dead
and forgotten; as uncommon
as he was for a subject
he could never object
and refuse partic-p-tion
or elevate his station
he was just a lab rat
wrapped up in a mad man’s
version of monopoly
called human society
where the rich prey on the weak
and give the dumb power to speak
in deafening shouts
praising the ignorant
pacifistic cattle
born into a battle
they were never meant
to mathematically
have a chance to see
from the farmer’s perspective
unless they were elected
by the m-sses to p-ss this
imaginary border;
until technology
advanced faster
than the greed of man
and the monopolization
of information
decayed to the state it’s in
hidden within the internet
is the knowledge
that can set a lab rat free
or give a mad man peace

verse 2:
so choose to use the tools in
your incarceration
to ill-strate the prison
and consider you’d be foolish
to escape from captivity
when all you’ve ever seen
was the inside of a cell
you’d be trading in a well
known h-ll for a foreign
paradise that other pairs of eyes
might judge equally
corrupt and so it seems
we’re caught in a cycle
of history
studied and written
about until bl–dy
it’s driven through town
makin’ progress
and if i had to guess
i’d say that the best
way to move forward
would be through peacefully
acceptin’ that to be free
would mean anarchy
so we must simply seek
comfortable existences
within the walls of society
or face the consequences
of repeatin’ past mistakes
until the apocalypse
finally takes
and steers us to our fate
if anarchy is a disease
and society the cure
is lawlessness any worse
than the effects of this remedy?
