skyart - album review: reclassified (iggy azalea) lyrics

Loading...

so, this is my first attempt at a review i guess. i’ll probably do more in the future (with better writing and more insightful cus’ i suck at that right now). anyways i recently listened to the re-released version of iggy azalea’s the new cl-ssic and because of how much better it was i decided to write a review on some of the new tracks made for the album. hopefully people might give her another chance in light of this re-release and see some of her improvement. not only does it add some better tracks, but the removal of some of the more mediocre and bad tracks makes for a stronger and more consistent album

–we in this b-tch–

this track is a very strong opening for the rest of the album. the production is pretty simple but has a certain “ease” to it that makes it very pleasant, i could probably listen to an instrumental of this for hours on repeat while studying. definitely a new sound for iggy, and certainly a good one at that

this song is in a way the essence of what this album is, as she talks about her the first release didn’t live up to it’s name:

>now let’s reflect on what we left on new cl-ssic
i overstepped what was expected, i blew past it

in light of this she offers us a new album with new tracks, and removes some of the old ones. and this track is certainly proves she’s in the right direction. she also reflects on some of the struggles she’s facing, such as how she’s trying to become a better artist but has to deal with a lot of criticism, often unfair

–rating: 9.5/10–

–beg for it–

the newest single for this album, also more of what we’ve come to expect from iggy. featuring mø (who’s verses were writing by charli xcx), beg for it is another strong new track on the album. unfortunately for this song i believe it’s detriment is fancy, as it sort of follows a similar formula. although mø singing is good and she certainly has a very good voice, it doesn’t seem to fit the song as well as charli’s hook on fancy, which was certainly more catchy

despite that iggy offers us some good verses, filled with the familiar braggadocio we (or at least some…) have come to love her for. also despite not being a fan of the hooks, mø outro sounded much better as there is a better transition from the last hook into it

–rating: 8/10–

–trouble–

just a decent track tbh…not much to say. alright rapping and some decent singing from jennifer hudson, but nothing super special about this track. however the duo does mesh together quite well over this upbeat gospel influenced production. not a skippable track by any means but i don’t see myself listening to it unless i’m listening to the whole album. (although im not like you weird people who listen to mostly singular tracks instead of a full album at once). i can certainly see some liking this more than i do one the other hand

–rating: 7/10–

–iggy szn–

this track sounds a reminded me of some of her tracks on ignorant art. anyways just another iggy braggadocio song, another avg track, nothing to see here

–rating: 6/10–

–heavy crown–

another great new addition to the album. rapping over a more rock influenced beat (a good new sound imo), iggy gives us some great verses, showcasing why she believe she belongs on the top and sh-tting on her haters. she has some good lines and she showcases her improved flow, certainly a another track showing how she’s growing as an artist

>life been crazy, all advice has been to chill more
ironic, i been livin’ off what people down to k!ll for
and i find no comfort in numbers, knowin’ there’s always a mill more
fact was that cat dragged my pretty -ss right on the top of that billboard

ellie goulding also features on this verse, and unlike the criticism i had for beg for it, her feature on this track is the perfect addition

the only problem i have with this song is that it isn’t the ending track. the end of the song is sort of anti-climatic as it winds down and what i think would have been the perfect way to end the album, instead of the more upbeat ending track the follows it

–rating: 9/10–
