the broken halos - the road - commentary lyrics
[non+lyrical vocals: nate brock]
this song went from being, like, really chill acoustic to what it is now and i love it. and it’s called the road. it’s a single i put out, uh, around thanksgiving and, um, i’ve had the blessing to get to travel to a couple different countries in my life and a lot of different states. um, but i think something i’ve realized every time i’ve been out of the country or out of the state is it+ it+ like+ it’s like it makes me like mississippi more. um, before i went anywhere i was like, “man, i wanna go to + some other place.” but now (laughs) … now, the more i see, like, why i was born in mississippi and the more i go into the world, the more i’m thankful to come back here and, um, really have it be my home state and, you know, writing a lot more music and things like that, i’ve+ i’ve really been a lot more connected with the roots of that here and, um, just really proud to call mississippi my home state. so this is the road. we might travel, but always want to come back here
