william lovings - notes lyrics
[spoken word]
as j. cole would say, these are the credits, so if you’re not down to here me ramble and give thanks, you may hear your name, you’re free to leave
yeah, i decided i’d rock out with that biggie smalls kind of vibe
first off, thanks to my parents, um, i guess you gave me the voice i have, one way or another. oh, you know, it’s incredible…
thank you to all the people that have supported my music throughout the years, namely, my choral teachers, and mr. winn. thank you for allowing me to play guitar in jazz band, even though i sounded pretty d+mn bad
thank you to whoever made audacity. i made this whole album on audacity. not pro tools, not logic, f+ck all that, i made this sh+t on audacity. well, it’s because i don’t have the funds right now, i’m a broke college student at hampton university, what do you expect?
i hope to have a g+nius page up for all the lyrics on this album, just so people can get a pretty decent idea of what i’m trying to say. a lot of the things aren’t too deep, but a couple things are beyond the surface level. if you know me well enough, you know pretty much every reference i make on this album, and that’s a good thing. but it may not be, the school i go to is far too small, and people talk too d+mn much
by the way, shout out to my homie tim, shout out to my homie tim. yeah man, tim, i remember coming to your room all the time during first semester and second semester of freshman year man, we were, sh… orchard man
by the way, my life is a gofundme, if you want to give me money, support my music, cashapp me, i’m not gonna say it in the song because i don’t want my cashapp getting hacked, but, if you want, find a way to contact me, i promise i’ll listen to you
by the time this gets around, i hope if it gets famous enough where i blow up, the michael jackson estate doesn’t sue me for using i’ll be there. it’s a good song, i thought it sounded cool and all, fit the vibe of the album, fit what i was trying to do, and so i decided i’d leave it in
to be honest though, shoutout to marcus miller. one time i was with marcus miller at the richmond jazz festival, i was chilling backstage and i met him, i talked to him, had a really good time
shoutout to stanley clarke as well, those are just two big jazz icons. stanley clarke talked to me about guitars and what it means to really understand melody, and that production doesn’t have to be perfect, it just has to be something you want to do, and that you are proud of
other names i wanna drop? you know, of course i have to drop the one and only [reversed] for inspiring, like, three of the songs on this album. thank you
what else? cardiology, radiology, oncology, and uh… (laughs)
jesus christ, no one’s gonna listen this far. but that’s fine. that’s fine, that’s fine, that’s fine, that’s fine
i’m a political science major, so if this music thing doesn’t work out, expect to see me in a courtroom, where i will bust a rhyme. sh+t, i might even pull out the guitar a little bit, serenade the jury, get them on my side on the case, isn’t that something, isn’t that something?
camlove back on the mic, i’m freestyling
you know that if i’m in your club, then i’m wilding
no, camlove is not coming back. alright, i look forward to hearing from y’all again. i’m gonna take a little break, then i’m going to come back and work on a covers album. thank you so much
