history of poetry reading started spring 2018 as open mic diversity program open to all poet student body and faculty of csn. it took place at csn. students and faculty shared their poems for fifty minutes of poetry reading, poetry slam, and spoken word
the purpose for poetry reading is to share the talented original voices of original poems from a diverse body to celebrate personal feelings on love, life, and culture

2019 performance poetry reading and spoken word contest ideas for program
as part of the contest, rubric to include rating contestants on personality originality and att-tude and conviction. time performance between 5 to 10 minutes ranging from 5 to 8 performances for a 40 minute program. time remaining to give prizes. you can get the best students at csn to compete in communication cl-sses or english cl-sses who are good at writing and giving speeches and performing. track theater students who have talent performing and music students who write lyrical poems too. you can put up a sign-up sheet in cl-ssroom board or with instructors. you teach communication cl-sses too. the awards could come from a bookstore in gift cards or prizes. think about it. i’m giving ideas you might use next poetry reading. students can get free money or gifts for reading a poem. time interlude of the intro to each poet to tell their name, where they’re from, their major, what poetry means to them and something personal about each poet they want to share. if we gave the 6-minute limit to each performance with a 2-minute intro of each poet it would make 40 minutes with 10 minutes to g
