masta artisan – logos ii lyrics

Loading...

you might not know me very well out here/
but your whole wardrobe is probably made of the blood, sweat, and tears/
of me and my peers, we come from countries/
were most of us go to sleep hungry/
we need money for the tummies that we have to feed/
so one day, a company opens a factory/
promising pay, but adults are not what they needed/
they wanted all their workers to be kids/
and who are we to resist? beggars can’t be choosey/
so jobs got sn-tched up fast, but none of us knew we/
were being manipulated until the contracts were signed/
and we were confined into the positions that we were -ssigned/
so we toiled in pools of sweat and constantly felt the sting/
of overseers who didn’t care if the heat was sweltering/
and it hardly seems worth it with the money i gain/
but at least we had something, so i couldn’t complain/
then i found out something that i wasn’t antic-p-ting to hear/
one shoe that we create is worth more than i’ll make in a year/
i was told that these clothes were shipped to rich nations/
and the company’s owners receive m-ssive monetary compensation/
and the reason they make such a high profit/
is because they can take extra dollars from a customer’s wallet/
not because their product is expensive to make, oh no/
it’s just because they have a well known logo/
knowing that was what made the work more painful/
the fact that our dest-tution was used as an angle/
0ato make the rich richer, while we do the dirty work/
for all the money they withhold, it makes me wanna hurt these jerks/
and it should be right to bite the hand that feeds you crumbs/
of the fat entree they munch on in their other palm/
but i know what would happen if i spoke up and said “that’s wrong”/
my only source of income wouldn’t last long/
they would replace me as fast as you can shoot a gun, and that’ll be the fate/
of anyone else who doesn’t want to cooperate/
and from then on, no one else would speak up/
meanwhile, consumers put so much value in this cheap stuff/
if only someone could give them a tip off/
and let them know that they’re being ripped off/
maybe then, those consumers wouldn’t go for these vices/
in fact, i bet there’s a way to make them lower these prices/
what if people knew about this, and went on a protest/
and vowed that no single person would ever invest/
in buying this clothing until the cost decreased/
and the workers were paid enough to actually provide their family with a feast/
but maybe as consumers, they’re just not that unified/
and don’t know about those that being wrongfully utilized/
but then i say, “who are you bluffing?/
most of them know about this corruption, and do nothing!”
so i go back to my job, like a mindless drone/
being underpaid, while working my fingers to the bone/
saying “that’s just the way it is” with apathy/
but in my mind, i ask, “is this the way it has to be?”/
